With 14 Words, Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran Taught a Brilliant Lesson on How to Beat Self-Doubt
You know that little voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough? You’re a fraud? You’re a phony? You don’t have what it takes?
Well, Barbara Corcoran hears it too. “My success is entirely due to my insecurity,” she announced on TikTok.
In a recent appearance on podcast The Jamie Kern Lima Show, the Shark Tank star and successful entrepreneur explained that it wasn’t until she was 30 years old that she started fighting back against the voice in her head saying she didn’t deserve to be where she was.
In the episode, Corcoran offers plenty of advice on how to “declare war” on self-criticism (including the important insight that it is actually a sign you’re on the path to success). But perhaps the most useful part of her advice was just 14 little words. They neatly capture a scientific truth that can act as ammo to shoot down your self-doubt.
